More modern, single image, techniques however, can actually add extra detail that wasn’t there to begin with. Fractal techniques for enlarging images have existed for many years, but are really just retaining existing detail, during enlargement, in a plausible way. Super-resolution is a term with many modern meanings, but basically involves those techniques which add detail to poor resolution and grainy images. The evidence must be thin or the OP wouldn't hesitate so.Super-Resolution Overview of Super-Resolution Techniques, What are we Discussing Here? It's pretty standard to illustrate your point with images in a thread like this. I can't imagine is another way of saying show me. The beta is free to try, maybe it would expand your imagination I have both C1 and LR and find that the definition of "intuitive," generally speaking, is "what I've gotten used to and know how to use."Īgreed, intuitive is often 90% what you are used to. It sounds like X-Tranformer forces you to take extra steps and consume additional disc space just to reach the same outcome. That imagination thing again but I agree color is a strength of C1 especially the tools to adjust it. I have used C1 for years and yes it does a nice job with detail for raf but in many cases Iridient (and some others) can do even better. I can't imagine is a pretty weak argument which says more about your lack of imagination than providing any real evidence to support your position. I am willing to be persuaded, but would like to see some evidence for a thread like this. It would be even better if you supplied the raw file so that others could show what they can produce from it in C1. Perhaps you could give us a C1 and XTransformer comparison so we could see what you're so holy toledo / sure as hell fired up about. I have both C1 and LR and find that the definition of "intuitive," generally speaking, is "what I've gotten used to and know how to use." It sounds like X-Tranformer forces you to take extra steps and consume additional disc space just to reach the same outcome. I never have any issues with white balance. I also can't imagine that the colors are any better the colors and tonal possibilities are amazing in Capture One. I can't imagine that you got better detail from X-Transformer than I can get from Capture One, which renders absolutely amazing detail from Fuji raw files. This is quite a game changer - i can now have my cake and eat it too ! I like lightroom's intuitive controls better. This is great - i can now convert all these fuji raw to dng and use lightroom and Camera raw. Capture one was my go-to software for Fuji RAWs and.holy toledo - I can't find any thing lacking in the iridient version - in fact i thought the iridient version looked a bit sharper and sure as hell got better white balanced colors - i've got a new favourite software now - it's Iridient. I tested Iridient's X-Transformer side by side by Capture One. Would I still buy it, feeling as I do now? The answer is yes, I find having the option available, working relatively smoothly with my workflow, and at a reasonable cost, is worthwhile.Ĭare to share any recommended settings for batch converting files? I'm mainly interested in just getting the detail sorted before editing in LR, really struggling with landscape results from the x-trans put straight through LR. So, I find that (to me), rather than being a magic wand, the x-transformer is a useful sddition to my toolbox, which I will use selectively. I find it hard to say which type of image benefits from Iridient, I'm still learning here. The other is one I didn't expect - I don't find that every image benefits from the Iridient conversion, for some images the LR conversion looks better (to me). Now I've moved back to processeng my raf files in LR, then with certain images applying the Iridient conversion as a LR plugin, and then synchronising with the original LR conversion (except for sharpening, which I set at 0). At first I ran every image through it and processed the dngs in LR, giving me huge raw files (form compressed Fuji raws). I've had the x-transformer for about 3 weeks and like it.

So far, I've implemented enough of the utility services to get some games to boot, and observe a few things: So I've been experimenting with this in a private repo. Most of these services are fairly simple, with sound and wifi being by far the most complex ones. The services serve to provide access to the ARM7-side hardware: sound, wifi, touchscreen controller, PMIC, firmware memory, etc. When the game boots, there is a IPCSYNC handshake, then the ARM7 exposes a bunch of services that are accessed via the IPC FIFO. The ARM9 communicates with the ARM7 via the IPC hardware (IPCSYNC and the IPC FIFO), and some shared memory areas. It also means that the ARM7 is limited to taking care of utility tasks, while all the game logic is running on the ARM9. This means that, in theory, all commercial games out there will have one of the few possible ARM7 binary versions. It may seem feasible if you consider that Nintendo never allowed game developers to write their own ARM7 binaries. What I've been experimenting with melonHLE goes further: HLEing the ARM7. BIOS calls aren't critical enough that HLEing them might boost performance significantly. The main advantage to this is that the emulator doesn't require a proper BIOS dump to run games, but there is no other real benefit from this. Some emulators, like DeSmuME, are able to HLE the BIOS calls, basically replicating them inside the emulator. DS games are mostly self-contained and run on the bare metal, relying on the small BIOSes for basic functions like interrupt waits, decompression, etc. While my situation is being sorted out, I will make a post about an idea I had a while ago: attempting HLE for DS emulation.Īll the existing DS emulators, as far as I'm aware, are essentially LLE. Full 3D games are more demanding, so this is a worthy optimization target.ġ9 comments (last by melonJYC) | Post a comment For example, Generic is trying to optimize melonDS for the Switch, and more particularly trying to optimize the whole 3D graphics pipeline. This joins the general idea of optimizing melonDS for lower-end platforms. Now, you may ask, how does any of this relate to the netplay saga? In the end, it might be integrated into melonDS as an option, though it needs more work and testing. Regardless, melonHLE may prove a viable option for lower-end platforms. A much bigger kMaxIterationCycles value increases performance to some extent and has no downsides. The current value of 64 is chosen to keep the ARM9 and ARM7 somewhat in sync, but obviously, in melonHLE we don't need to keep the ARM7 in sync. There are some simple ways to make melonHLE faster, one of which is increasing the maximum CPU time slice (kMaxIterationCycles). However, keep in mind that this is largely a quick and dirty experiment. MelonHLE shows to be faster, but it's not mindblowing either. Numbers are an average measure of frames per second. The tests were done on my laptop Crepe (Core i7-5500U, 2.4GHz). I've had some fun reverse-engineering the sound engines and implementing them, with decent results. The compatibility rate seemed good, even though some games don't run because some auxiliary services aren't completely implemented. I continued my work on melonHLE, taking it to a point where it may be something serious. So first of all, I'm done with the mold problem and its consequences, meaning that my apartment finally looks like an actual apartment and I can exhale a big sigh of relief. I just visited to find that a few copies are still available via secondhand stores. There's also an “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night” Audio cassette (ISBN 1-57270-045-9). It Was a Dark & Stormy Night: The Final Conflict (1992).Son of “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night” (1986).In fact, I just discovered that five books collecting the “best” BLFC entries have been published over the years as follows: “ is now generally understood to represent an extravagantly florid style with redundancies and run-on sentences, and the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest was formed to “celebrate” the worst extremes of this general style of writing.Ģ005: Dan McKay: “As he stared at her ample bosom, he daydreamed of the dual Stromberg carburetors in his vintage Triumph Spitfire, highly functional yet pleasingly formed, perched prominently on top of the intake manifold, aching for experienced hands, the small knurled caps of the oil dampeners begging to be inspected and adjusted as described in chapter seven of the shop manual.”Ģ006: Jim Guigli: “Detective Bart Lasiter was in his office studying the light from his one small window falling on his super burrito when the door swung open to reveal a woman whose body said you've had your last burrito for a while, whose face said angels did exist, and whose eyes said she could make you dig your own grave and lick the shovel clean.”Ģ007: Jim Gleeson: “Gerald began – but was interrupted by a piercing whistle which cost him ten percent of his hearing permanently, as it did everyone else in a ten-mile radius of the eruption, not that it mattered much because for them “permanently” meant the next ten minutes or so until buried by searing lava or suffocated by choking ash – to pee.” However, he may well have fallen into obscurity along with so many of his contemporaries if it were not for the annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest sponsored by the English Department of San Jose State University. It was a dark and stormy night the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness.īulwer-Lytton (1803-1873) was a popular writer in his day, coining such phrases as “the great unwashed”, “pursuit of the almighty dollar”, and “the pen is mightier than the sword”. Do you remember the Peanuts cartoons in which Snoopy was trying to write a novel that always began: “It was a dark and stormy night…” ? In fact, this came from the first sentence of an 1830 novel called “Paul Clifford” by English novelist, poet, playwright, and politician Edward Bulwer-Lytton:

The government of Wales was reported in July 2020 to have spent £5 million on supporting the Ineos factory development at Bridgend with enabling work and road infrastructure, and said at that time that it would "look to recoup appropriate costs from the company" if the Bridgend factory was cancelled. Ken Skates, Welsh Government Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales said it would be "a real blow if Ineos reneged on its very public commitment". "It's a serious business consideration," Tennant said. On 7 July 2020, it was reported that Ineos Automotive was in talks with Daimler AG, the owners of Mercedes-Benz, to buy the Smart factory in Hambach, France, and build the Grenadier there instead of Wales and Portugal. In June 2020, Ineos Automotive unveiled a first look at the exterior design of the Grenadier, as well as some technical information relating to the vehicle's chassis, towing capabilities and suspension. The brand expects to build 25,000 Grenadier models a year at full capacity. Mark Tennant, the commercial director of Ineos Automotive, told the Financial Times there had been 50,000 expressions of interest before the designs of the vehicle had been made public. Development of the off-roader will see it undergo 1.1 million miles (1.8 million km) as part of a grueling testing regime. This partnership would oversee turning the development project concept into a mass-produced machine. In December 2019, Ineos Automotive announced the Austrian-based Magna Steyr as their engineering partner for the development of the Grenadier. Ineos Automotive also confirmed that it would be investing in a sub-assembly plant in Estarreja, Portugal, for the Grenadier's body and chassis. It was announced in September 2019 that the Grenadier would be manufactured at a bespoke new manufacturing facility on a greenfield site in Bridgend, Wales. In March 2019, Ineos Automotive announced that it had entered into a powertrain technology partnership with BMW. The first deliveries were made in December 2022. Production started in July 2022 at Ineos Automotive plant in Hambach, France. The vehicle was proposed to be manufactured in Wales, but later confirmed to be made in France. Comparing this project to James Dyson's plan to build an electric car in Singapore, which was cancelled in October 2019, writing off £500 million of his own money, an industry insider commented "If JLR, which made the Defender for 70 years, is struggling, then that's an indicator of how tough it's going to be for a newcomer". The vehicle is named after Ratcliffe's favourite pub, The Grenadier, in Belgravia, London, where the initial idea was considered, and where a promotional presentation was shown. Ratcliffe later decided to initiate a project to design and build a similar vehicle under the codename Projekt Grenadier. Ratcliffe came up with the idea of building a replacement for his Land Rover Defender and approached Jaguar Land Rover to buy the tooling to continue production after the original model ceased at Solihull after 67 years in January 2016. was founded by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, billionaire and chairman of the multinational chemicals company Ineos. In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, salt and lemon juice until fully incorporated. Refrigerate until firm and cold to the touch, at least 1 hour. Press into a 14” x 4.5” rectangular fluted tart pan with a removable bottom, spreading it out firmly and evenly. It’ll still look crumbly in the food processor but if you squeeze some in your hand it should stick together. Add the coconut oil, honey, and vanilla and blend until combined and the mixture starts to form a dough. Toast the oats in a medium, non-stick skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the oats are light golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes.Īdd the toasted oats to a food processor along with the cashews, hemp seeds, brown sugar and salt and blend until very fine, like the consistency of fine breadcrumbs. Remove the crust from the pan by pressing up the bottom, then transfer to a cutting board. Allow the tart to set in the refrigerator overnight or at least 4 hours. Top with chopped toasted cashews, fresh blueberries and a drizzle of honey. Spread the labneh mixture evenly in the oat tart shell, then drizzle on remaining syrup and swirl. Fold together until combined but still a little streaky. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the labneh with half of the blueberry syrup. Once it is thick and syrupy and the blueberries have broken down, remove from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature. Let the mixture bubble for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally with a rubber spatula and swirling the pan around. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries, honey, lemon zest and juice, and cardamom and bring to a boil. Refer to the product label for precautions.
